One of the most well known of the Psalms attributed to King David, Psalm 23 is often read at funerals because of its reference to the “valley of the shadow of death,” but its message is for the living, and is both positive and reassuring : “I shall fear no evil, for You are with me… my cup overflows…and I shall dwell in the House of the Lord forever.”
